Sauteed Ground Turkey

Whenever i go to a Thai restaurant, either i get their drunken noodles, Issan sausage, chicken pad see ew or their sauteed ground pork with egg. Couple of years ago, i wanted to learn how to cook an easy Asian dish with ground meat and veggies and stumbled upon a recipe online. However, recipe calls for tons of added ingredients & steps (didn’t meet my requirements). It took me a few tries (like all my recipes), a few tweaks, a few adjustments and substitution and down to only a few ingredients and most importantly - meets my 20 minute or less cooking rule.

Fast forward, this dish is now part of our weekly rotation. My husband and daughter love this dish! So easy to make for your weeknights dinner. Also, they are even better the next day! I have served this dish to close friends and family and have gotten rave reviews about it. Plates are always cleaned up - it’s that delicious ;-)

Ingredients: (Servings: 4)

  • 1 lb ground turkey

  • 1/4 lb (or more if preferred) French green beans/haricot verts, or regular ones

  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil (olive oil or any oil will do)

  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce (i use my Filipino soy sauce but any soy sauce will do!)

  • 1/2 tablespoon rice vinegar (or regular white vinegar)

  • 1 cup of chicken broth (i use low sodium Pacific brand)

  • minced shallots (1 tablespoon)

  • minced garlic (1/2 tablespoon)

  • minced ginger (1/4 teaspoon or ginger paste)

  1. Sautee shallots first for 2 minutes in coconut oil (ad 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil, optional), then add garlic and ginger

  2. Add the ground turkey and sautee it all together for 4 minutes

  3. Add add soy sauce & rice vinegar and 1 cup of chicken broth

  4. Add verts/green beans. Stir occasionally and should be cooked in 10 minutes! I like my greens crunchy so cook more if you prefer it softer.

Enjoy! Best served with white rice!

Tips:

  • Use either verts or regular green beans (verts are smaller = faster to cook!)

  • To add kick, dash of chili oil or crunchy garlic oil will do!

  • You can top it with fried egg

  • Garnish or cook it with Thai basil

"Haricot" means bean and "vert" means green in French!

All the ingredients!
